Quick Note

Hi all.
Sorry I have been M.I.A. for so long.
My Momma has been in and out of the hospital for over a month now.
We thought the worst a few times and do not seem to be out of the woods yet!
She is currently quarantined with a bad respiratory virus and pneumonia.

Please keep our family in your prayers!
We hope to be back soon!

Dr. Rylee's X-rays

If you have read this blog for any length of time, you may be familiar with my Little Mister's health issues. Recently we had another bone age X-ray done (along with tons of other tests). I used this simple craft I've seen online to kind of get him ready to have another "picture" taken of his hands.
I traced his hand with chalk on a black piece of construction paper. Then we used pieces of Q-tips and glued them down for bones.

Today we are headed over to Ochsner Children's Hospital in New Orleans to visit with the doctor and discuss some of the test results!

God Heals

Guess what we've been dealing with?
My house has the flu.

However, I know the greatest physician...
He is great with kids and is very comforting.
He makes house calls and is always on time.
He has healed all manner of disease and raised folks from the grave.
I'm sure he has an office near you!
Who is it, you ask?

Little IS Much

Occasionally at our church, all the seniors get together and sing some of the old hymns. I really enjoy this! Some songs I know while others cause me to wonder if they aren't made up on the very spot. But they are all singing the same words even if their tunes are varied! So that theory is blown! The other day I heard a song for the first time and it has stuck with me, "Little is Much when God is in it".
This sort of struck as a kind of 'motto' for my son. Those of you who have actually read by posts may remember about Little Mister's health issues. For my new readers, here's a quick catch up. My Little Mister is well, little. He is extremely small for his age, he doesn't really eat and he runs constant fevers. We battle breathing issues and sickness often. He has been going to specialists for well over a year and has been tested for just about everything under the sun. We've seen pulmonologists, endocrinologists, oncologists, infectious disease folks, geneticists, gastroenterologist, dieticians, etc... So far we know he has delayed bone growth and they are now testing for Russell-Silvers Syndrome. Which does not explain all the symptoms but it is a start!
Anyway, not long after I heard the song, I was unlucky enough to get a bad case of the stomach flu. I was laying on my bed in severe pain and Little Mister came prancing in my room. He looks at me, climbs up on the bed and placed his little hand on my head and said, "Thank you Jesus" then continued on praying for several minutes. Unfortunately, I could not understand anything he said after that except, Amen.
Right then and there I realized that my little guy may be small but if God can use a little stone to bring down a giant, He can use my Little Mister to do great and BIG things as well! He may be physically small but he has a big heart. He is gentle, caring and kind. People are always telling me sweet stories and saying things about him that makes my heart swell!
He may not be physically big but he will do big things for the Lord.
And I truly believe that
Little IS much when God is in it!

I See Your Belly Button!

My Little guy has a belly fettish!
When he is tired his hand seeks the belly button.

I dare not put him in any one piece outfits because there is no belly access.
 And... he has this thing?!?
He will come up to me, crawl in my lap, push up my shirt slightly, pull up his shirt, press our bellies together and give me a great big hug along with a sweet grin. His way of showing affection??? I dunno know?
He does it quite often. To date he has thankfully never tried this in public.
He only does that to me. Other family members have received belly hugs on there legs or arm.

As some of you may remember, he has been seeing several specialists about some health issues we have been trying to diagnosis for over a year now. One thing all the doctors notice is his small size and his really distended belly. Although it may be part of the problem, I think it makes a great spot for giving raspberries which he L-O-V-E-S!

With all this belly action around here I couldn't resist giving this activity a try.
He is somewhat of a neat freak for his age, so at first he was a little apprehensive. That didn't last long after the first blob of paint touched the belly.

An Apple a Day

My Little Mister has been to so many specialists, that I have just about lost count. We've been to a pulmonologist, endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, geneticist, oncologist and even seen an infectious disease specialist. I think I may have left someone out. I believe there is another -ologist in there somewhere. We are still trying to determine what the problem is. He has had so many tests. Several where he had to be put under anesthesia. When this journey first began, he just sort of went with the flow. All his doctor's commented on how calm he was. And then it seemed something clicked! White coat = pokes. He is fine with the visit; he laughs and chats. But, when they pull out any instrument (thermometer, stethoscope or tongue depressor) he gets a death grip on me like there is no tomorrow and buries his head under my arm. Lord help the ladies in the lab. The promise of a sucker and stickers can only thrill for so long.
I hate to do it but I usually have to peel him off and turn him around. Those of you who have ever had to hold a terrified kid for a doctor know exactly what I'm talking about! It hurts my heart that he might think I am a mean Mommy or a trader (or whatever a 2 1/2 year old mind might label it).
However, good news, today we celebrated 3 months of NO Specialists and NO trips to Ochsner Children's Hospital in New Orleans!
While we anxiously wait on results from our last slew of tests, we celebrate with Apples. You know what they say . . . An Apple a Day, Keeps the Doctors Away!
