All you need:

3 puzzle pieces

2 google eyes

1 pom-pom

and a magnet

For the Yarn Queen

It's Aunt Tina's birthday and since she has recently become the 

Yarn Queen of the South, 

we thought this Yarn Painting would be a perfect present!

Here's to you Aunt Tina:

*Tink is a verb that means to unknit by taking out a stitch at a time. You will not find this in a dictionary, though (yet).
*What is a nupp (rhymes with soup)? It is an Estonian knitting technique that results in a small bobble. Increase 1 stitch to 3 or 5 stitches, turn and knit those stitches together.
*The US dollar is 6.1" long. This is a handy fact when you need to measuring your knitting and have no ruler available.
* I-cord is short for Idiot cord. This technique was so named by Elizabeth Zimmermann because it is so easy even an idiot can do it. I-cord was originally called “stay-lace” and used in corsets.

Bird Nesting Orbs

Today is my Daddy's birthday. Still active and doing it all after all these years. (I told you before that my daddy knows all, does all and can beat up your daddy . . . much like . . . Superman!) 

Along with so many other things, he enjoys bird watching and has several bird feeders in the yard. Since they live out in the country, he constantly has to come up with ideas to keep racoons, squirrels and other critters away from the feeders. That's alright, I believe he enjoys the challenge. And thus far, I believe, he has been winning the battles.

Since he is such a bird enthusiast, we decided to make him some nesting orbs to hang in his yard.

Materials- 20-22 gauge wire, scrap pieces of yarn, ribbon, cloth, felt, cotton and anything else soft, a soft ball about the size of a tennis ball.

Procedure-
1. Wrap the wire around the ball to make an orb shape.
2. Squeeze the ball and pull out of the orb and then reshape the wire.
3. Fill the orb with your materials.
4. Hang in trees for the birds to discover.

Wind Chimes for Nonnie

It's almost Nonnie's birthday and we have been scratching our heads trying to figure out what to make. Finally. like a light from above, we got it. Little Mister noticed that one of the chimes on her porch had lost the clacker ... not exactly sure what to call it ... So, off we go!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NONNIE

Materials- Several cans of different sizes, one can lid, acrylic paints, brushes, glitter, yarn, washers. nail, hammer

Procedure-
1. Poke a hole in the top of each can, and the lid, using a nail and hammer.
2. Paint the cans. We added glitter to a few while they were still wet.
3. Let them dry.
4. Run yarn through the holes and attach a washer to the end inside the can (clacker)! LOL
5. Grab all the strings and knot them together at the length you want them to hang.
6. Use a large washer as a hanger or simply use the loops from the knot.
